Friends

Mark and Jane Petrak moved to San Antonio the day after I arrived here. I went to school with a niece of theirs at Vanguard, a fellow English major--who shared my opinions in and out of classes-- and they have known the Pierce family, well, since before they were the Pierce family. Some neat connections.

I have fallen in love with going over to their house for dinner and inevitably a game or two. They are refreshing, funny, completely real, and are the kind of people who speak their minds. Wonderful. Mark is a fantastic cook and James and I look forward to visiting with them each week.

I came pretty close to winning Settlers of Catan this last week, which says something because I don't think I've won a game of anything since Christmas.
