Blessing of the Fleet

James and I got to go hang out on the Hudson's Eclipse again yesterday afternoon. I picked him up at South Station in Boston, and we drove out to where the boat is moored. Their yacht club held a Blessing of the Fleet, and we paraded the boat through the docks as it was blessed by a priest. Though we didn't put any sails up, it was still fun to hang out, sit in the sun, eat good food, and swim.

I'm looking forward to the next few days off from work, mostly because James has them off as well. I think we'll have a little stay-cation.

And yes, he did jump.

Summer Sailing

We might sail a lot this summer. 

James finished up his regular school year at Cotting this week, and I am in the process of finishing up my summer school class at Emerson. We are in full summer weather here, and so far enjoying it! Last Sunday we went out on the harbor for a bit with some Sunday School kids and their parents. James ended the day by jumping off the first and second spreaders on the mast, a good 20 and 30 feet up, into the water. The kids loved it and promptly jumped off the side of the boat after him. Apparently its not too cold. 

James went off to New York to visit Mikey and Kristin for a few days, and while he's gone I've been doing homework, working, cleaning, and visiting with friends. 

Summer officially starts Tuesday.

Saturday

A beautiful day full of goodness. Work Saturday morning was awesome, and I so appreciate my coworkers. Delicious iced coffee accompanied me over to the Hampson's, where I spent an hour with the kitcats we're loving on this week. Pippin was especially happy to see me. I went home and made dinner for James, and just before we ate, our friend Tim wandered in. We're now over at his house, watching the Bruins play for the Stanly Cup. There's a fire on outside and and I'm looking forward to sleeping well tonight, with the windows open so the summer breeze can float in.

Sailing on Sunday

We had a busy, adventurous weekend. Sunday was the first sailing we've done this summer and we took out the small boats with the Hudson kids. I kinda can't wait until I can do it by myself. Maybe I can pick it up before the end of the summer. We may even do an overnight. 

This week is full of work and school. Only two more weeks left of my Electronic Publishing class and though I'm really enjoying it, I am looking forward to having extra time to spend with friends and projects. 

Happy Birthday James

 Last week I sent out an invite to a bunch of our friends at church to come have dinner with us Saturday evening to celebrate James' birthday. I made it potluck, because I love potlucks, and we grilled burgers and hotdogs. After days of rain Saturday evening was gorgeous. We had about 30 people over at the Hudson's and goodness was there a lot of laughter. I made Meg's carrot cake for James and about 3 minutes after I cut it, it was gone.

A lovely evening to celebrate a incredible man. Love you James!

A: I don't have one silly!

R: Well why not?

A: Who would be my husband Bekah?

R: Well I dont know you have to pick!

A: (Laughter) What would he look like?

R: Like, he would be like a prince!

A: What else?

R: Brown hair like you... he would look like you, sorta.

A: Oh ya?

R: Ya, and what color do you like? Like, he could be a purple husband!

A: Purple sounds great! (Laughter)

R: And if you find a purple husband...or green, he could be green too,

then you just tell me.

A: And then what would you do?

R: I would tell him to kiss you!

One Lovely Summer Evening

I probably should have warned you that those pictures were full of almost-too-much-to-handle cuteness.

After the Red Sox game, James and I went over to the Hampson's house for an evening BBQ in their new backyard. They recently moved to the next town over from us, and we are pretty thrilled about it. We had a delicious dinner prepared mostly by the guys, on the grill, and by the time we were done it was dark out. Their baby, Olivia, also decided she wanted to have nothing of going to sleep on time. She joined the party and stayed up for an extra hour outside with us. She is full of sweetness.

We're hoping for many more evenings here at our house, over there, and in between. After all, they are only a few miles away.

Though all this rain does make things difficult.

Angels vs. Red Sox

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Boston for a ball game. This was a birthday present for James (which is coming up on the 17th people!) and originally scheduled for Friday night, but due to rain, we were able to enjoy sunshine the next day. Fenway Park is truly amazing, with all of its history painted on the brick walls, one feels the spirit of baseball inside. We watched on as the Angels, our favorite team, won the game. James clapped and whistled as everyone around us grumbled. 

There were times I used to daydream about having sunflower seeds and hotdogs at a baseball game with James in the summer. 

It seems there are a lot of dreams coming true around here lately.

A celebration of spring isn't it? A few little things that make life lovely. 

3 Region Blend is the current spring promotion at work, and I am in love with it. Floral, herbal, and full bodied is a perfect way to wake up in the morning. 

A Wedding Invitation from good friends. They are becoming husband and wife this weekend, and I am absolutely thrilled for them. Their relationship is beautiful, dynamic, full of thought, books, passion and zeal for life. Congratulations Peter & Amanda!

The Flowers I Inherited from church. Our community does a lot of gardening, and fresh flowers often adorn tables, stairs, and doors. These came to me a tag neglected but with a little care they continue to give me bloom after bloom. These are a yellowy-peach I love. 

Sweet Tea Glasses, from a little shop in Belmont that I sometimes find myself wandering through on a lunch break. The ladies that run the shop know me now, and are wonderful to chat with about books, business, paper, and pretty things. 

The Summer Issue of Brain, Child arrived upon my doorstep this morning. I read a few articles on the T home tonight—slowly—so I can savor it as long as possible. 

An Iphone Cover by Rifle Paper Co. has sat patiently this last week, full of anticipation, for my phone upgrade. I must admit, I have resisted this for a long time. However with a new phone comes Instagram. With which I will have the ability to swoon over pictures of my goddaughter anywhere I find myself.

Breakfast

James and I spent most of today sleeping, waiting in our quiet house for the cold front to move in over New England and relieve us from the heat. We have a full week ahead of us; presentations, to-do lists, and a lot of working. I think the fresh air will do us good. 

Maybe I'm not quite ready for summer.
